Even 'late preemies' have their issues

Elijah doesn't suck. Heh heh.
Actually he does suck, but not very well. He tires out easily and can't get all of my milk out. It doesn't *seem* like a weak suck when he's latched on! Makes me wonder what the real thing will be like, LOL!

So here he is getting a supplementary feed via tube. Surgery and tube feeds. Déjà vu.

Milk coma

The bris was a bust. Elijah has a congenital defect that needs to be surgically repaired.. Looks like we are just not meant to bris in this house. It's disappointing to once again miss out on the chance to participate in such an ancient and holy ritual. Thanks to those who came and hung out and noshed with us. It was nice to show off Baby Elijah.

The Sheriff's back

One sign of Jen's recovery from bedrest, labor and sleep-deprivation came yesterday at dinner.

Toby has been having some lax discipline and screwed up routine due to the craziness over the last month.  But last night he was banging his fork on the table or some such thing, and Jen took it away.  He was sufficiently cowed to behave well for the rest of dinner, leading us to say "The sheriff's back in town."

Update

Sorry we haven't posted in a while.  The "eagle" is keeping us busy.  But last night he slept from 1:30-5 which was a relief, and we got an extra hour of nap in the morning, because we had forgotten to set my clock forward yesterday.  we went to see Drew the pediatrician (aka Dr. Fillipo) today, and he said that Toby is back to his birthweight, which is faster than expected.  And he is doing well all around.  Jen is authorized to use the special door back to the exam rooms, rather than waiting in the waiting room, supposedly because Elijah is a preemie.  he waved us past a bunch of waiting families today.  That was pretty cool to be a frequent flyer...actually, he waved jen and elijah past, and made me wait in line to pay the bill.  Hmmm......

We are having the bris at noon on wednesday, which is pretty exciting but kind of scary.  Toby didn't have one because of all his medical problems, so this will be the first one either of us has ever attended.

The Eagle has landed

Elijah's home, and sleeping peacefully. Toby's insistent on giving him hugs, and when he cries Toby says "it's ok, little brother."

Almost out...

We just got the clean bill from Dr. Stout, and Ali the nurse (since first names and professions are popular these days) took off the security band. We've got a mommy stroller in the room, and elijah is wearing his go home outfit.

we're ready!

The eagle might land?

I'm on my way to the hospital. Hopefully I will return with a mommy and baby elijah.
